How is AWS helping companies? How does Coca-Cola 🥤migrate to AWS?
I will help you to understand their architecture and how they migrated. Let’s know by converting the information into small chunks.
Brief Introduction About AWS:-
So First of all know where this word comes
Let’s understand Cloud computing in the on-demand delivery of IT resources over the Internet with pay-as-you-go pricing. Instead of buying, owning, and maintaining physical data centers and servers, you can access technology services, such as computing power, storage, and databases, on an as-needed basis from a cloud provider like Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform(GCP), Azure...
(Next cloud provider will be made by myself🤣)
Coming to the Topic:-
So, (Amazon Web Services) AWS is a cloud Provider which benefits us by providing agility, Elasticity, and Cost Savings and we can also Deploy in minutes globally.
AWS is the most flexible and helpful platform for servicers to transfer their data from physical data servers to the cloud platform.
Now Focusing on the main Topic:-” Coca Cola 🥤migrate to AWS”
So, What is Coca Cola ( ye kaun se chiriya ka name h, Accha Cold Drinks wal a Company) :-,
A total beverage company that sells products in more than 200 countries and territories and adopted an array of AWS services to maintain its edge in the beverage category and continue to innovate and transform the business. The company works with local bottlers to make its brands globally available to more than 27 million customers.
Why Coco Cola needs AWS?
Now, Let’s Understand Technically:-
There were a lot of issues to solve like:-
a. Couldn’t handle unpredictable traffic.
b. Highly cost and no metered billing
c. Restrictive technical environment
d. Little visibility into the environment
e. Lack of isolation(if one affects, it may affect other's servers)
f. Maintenance windows, deployment(To check all the servers, you should keep the website under maintenance for a long time which is a big loss as we can lose customers.)
g. No clear accountability between the dev and ops teams.
This leads to the migration to AWS Cloud
Why they choose Amazon Web Services above all:-
AWS Services used by CocaCola:
Amazon Athena
Amazon Athena is an interactive query service that makes it easy to analyze data in Amazon S3 using standard SQL. Athena is serverless, so there is no infrastructure to manage, and you pay only for the queries that you run.
AWS IoT SiteWise
AWS IoT SiteWise is a managed service that makes it easy to collect, store, organize, and monitor data from industrial equipment at scale to help you make better, data-driven decisions.
Simple Storage Service (S3):
Most of the websites of brands of CocaCola are static websites. So they migrated these websites to S3. This reduced the cost tremendously.
CloudFormation:
They used this to write scripts for their infrastructure. They started building more stacks for various use cases.
Splunk:
It delivers application lifecycle intelligence which enables you to track every code check-in, build, test pass, and deployment in real-time. They used this software for DevOps practices.
Elastic Beanstalk:
First, we need to know about the service
AWS Elastic Beanstalk is an easy-to-use service for deploying and scaling web applications and services developed with Java, .NET, PHP, Node.js, Python, Ruby, Go, and Docker on familiar servers such as Apache, Nginx, Passenger, and IIS.
You can simply upload your code and Elastic Beanstalk automatically handles the deployment, from capacity provisioning, load balancing, and auto-scaling to application health monitoring. At the same time, you retain full control over the AWS resources powering your application and can access the underlying resources at any time.
The main important feature of the elastic beanstalk is its auto-scaling feature. It increases the number of servers when the load is high and decreases when it is low. We can also set the minimum and maximum amount of servers according to our cost budget.
Here, the beanstalk is zero downtime deployments. That means the website never goes down.
Coca-Cola architecture on AWS
Vending machines are used to communicate with customers. So, the architecture is explained through the above images.
Conclusion
The Company achieved 40 percent operational savings, coupled with an 80 percent reduction in IT help desk tickets due to added automation by migrating to AWS.
Thanks to Everyone for your valuable time.
